You've heard "surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and the thinkers, but most of all surround yourself with the people who see the greatness within you, even when you don't see if yourself."
That is like wrapping Katie up in a package. She believes in herself but mostly, she believes in you. Katie knows how to PUSH you and FOCUS on the goal.
That Katie- She's Powerful.
I had the privilege of interviewing Katie this week. She continues to inspire me with her love for her family and her dedication to herself.
Read below and you'll find yourself inspired...
Q: Do you consider yourself an I'mPossible Mom? If so, why is it important?
A: Absolutely I consider myself an I'mPossible Mom. I have feelings, doubts and challenges like everyone else but by making time for myself I have found that my family wants to workout and eat healthy right alongside me.
Q: What inspired you to begin making yourself possible?
A: Life inspired me, after my son went through treatment I realized how short life really can be and although I cannot control everything, I can take control of my health and my decisions. I wanted to show both of my kids that you can do anything if you set your mind to it. They love helping to prep meals and "feed their muscles" with healthy foods because they want to be like their mom and lift weights & do pull-ups :)
Q: What progress, both physical and mental have you achieved since you started to dedicate time to yourself?
A: Physically I have energy all day long, I have lost weight and gained muscle, I am comfortable looking in the mirror and best of all I am healthy.
Mentally I find myself happier with not only myself but with those in my life. I take the 2 hours a day and focus purely on myself. I am able to be a better mom because I have taken just a little time to be me. I may not be the skinny girl but I am confident with who I am and I don't care what the scale says. If I am being honest I think everyone should throw away their scales. Scales give a number that society feels we should be at but what if I feel good and am not at the "ideal" number?? We all have a body that we need to feel comfortable in as we are not all the same.
Q: Is it hard to make yourself possible? Why/why not?
A: At first I felt guilty for taking time for me but I quickly began to realize that if I am happy so are those around me. It can be difficult at times trying to find time to get everything done with a full-time job, 2 active kids, and a husband but I have made them apart of everything. They help prep meals each week, they choose healthy dinners without even thinking twice about it because what is important to me has become important to them.
Q: By making yourself possible, what message do you believe you are sending your husband and children?
A: The message I am sending to my husband and kids is that you can achieve anything you put your mind too. Being healthy does not inhibit our life it accentuates it!
Q: What would you like to say to all those moms out there- that may be having a hard time making themselves possible?
A: I would love to tell all the mom's out there that YOU ARE POSSIBLE and once you start making yourself possible your life and your families life will change for the better. I know it's hard but set a goal and hold yourself accountable-- but make it an achievable goal. Make your family a part of that goal because they are your biggest fans! If you show your family that your time and your goals are important they will make themselves important too. In all reality, as a mom, I want both my kids to know that taking care of yourself is possible and easy and... if you love yourself others will love you too.
