It hurts my soul to admit is time to break up with one of my favorites. It is never easy to admit when it is ultimately your choices that are holding you back from your ideal results. So... Starbucks, it is time for us to really break up this time. Starbucks has been my treat- Grande Hazelnut latte. When I take the first sip the warmth overtakes me and the deliciousness lingers on my tongue. Sometimes, as a busy mom- running errands, juggling home and work Starbucks has been my sanity- like a relaxer in all the crazy, I was at least spoiling myself and enjoying a delightful beverage. Come on moms- you know what I mean. Those treasured bubble baths that you always hope to take in silence, but it never really works right?? Well, that has been my Starbucks. So you might be asking... why break up with something you enjoy if it brings you happiness? Well my friend, my Starbucks habit is hindering what I have been training so hard for and why I have chosen to feed my family nutritious meals. My Grande Hazelnut latte is costing me upwards 300 calories each time I consume one- plus I have to eat breakfast in addition to my coffee. The Sports Nutritionist in me knows that continuing to feed my habit works directly against my greater goals. Treats are not treats when they are a part of your everyday, it is then admittedly a habit. So- I must bid farewell dear Starbucks.

In celebration of our break ups, I bring you a DELICIOUS recipe that we made last night. Not only was it easy but while it simmered, I managed to fold laundry, start laundry, and bathe the kids. Chad even did his homework at the table while I chopped all the hearty vegetables!
However, before you start cooking, make sure the Marc Pro is out of the way so you don't start getting vegetable juices and quinoa all over it. (Yes, this really is a problem in our household- Marc Pro is in use CONSTANTLY it never gets put away.)
Quinoa, Black Bean and Corn Lettuce Tacos (Serves 6-8)
After we ate, we realized how much we had for leftovers that we filled up two additional Tupperware containers with this deliciousness! For lunch today, I enjoyed the quinoa, black bean and corn concoction over a chicken breast.
Remember that extra crockpot meal I mentioned on Monday? Well... look who enjoyed his dinner thoroughly last night:) Happy bellies all around!
