Turkey is lean. We use ground turkey as often as possible to replace ground beef unless we can get our hands on local grass-fed beef (which is awesome!). These meatballs could be made with either turkey or your local grass-fed ground beef.
Completion of these meatballs, with defrosted meat, only took me about 15 minutes to prep and form and a mere 20 minutes in the oven! They were quick AND delightful plus we had TWO cookie sheets full of meatballs! Great for freezing or extra meals throughout the week!
Now you might ask- where is the marinara sauce? The noodles? Often how we pair healthy and nutritious foods can impact the additional nutrition (or lack of) we get. For instance- instead of noodles pair the meatballs with steamed or baked spaghetti squash, sweet potatoes, or quinoa. All three can be paired with the meatballs to create a nutritious and healthy meal. Top with chopped veggies, salsa or create your own marinara sauce in a blender to eliminate the unnecessary ingredients found in store-bought sauces.
