Gimmicks. Hundreds of companies are promoting, selling and encouraging the use of their products, but in reality of the nutritionally certified- it comes down to one thing- it is all a big gimmick and way to make money. Many of these companies pray on the United States high obesity rates and attempt to offer a quick fix. How many programs or companies have you bought into? How long has it taken you to move on to the next one? Have you self advocated for your health and researched the programs before you started? Have you research the benefits of consuming REAL FOOD? If not, I challenge you to do so.
Why do Most Fat Loss Diets Fail?
Simply put- would you hire and lawyer to build your house? A grocer to file your taxes? A personal trainer to assess your house for the market value? Probably not- then why have we made it socially acceptable for people with limited to no knowledge about nutrition to market, sell, inform and guide others towards reaching our ultimate health and fitness goals? Well, we've made it socially acceptable because it comes down to money. We all want our piece towards earning freedom and it is seen as okay to do this at the expense of others health and fitness goals. Have you watched Fed Up yet? If not- rent it or watch it on Netflix.
Athletes usually do not have a problem losing body fat when they stick to a targeted fat loss approach using REAL FOOD and develop an understanding (or work with a nutrition coach) about how to use food to make gains. Now- why would I be blatantly honest to call them gimmicks? Well, as a Triumph Fitness Certified Nutrition Coach, I understand that the primary problems you may have encountered (or ARE encountering) in the past had to do with the quality of weight loss. Fat loss (YAY!), muscle loss (YIKES!), and water weight loss (You'll gain this right back) result from gimmick diet plans. By following the tips listed below and working with a Triumph nutrition coach, you will easily start to lose body fat and reach your new body composition goal.
Most of the population at large is interested in looking for quick weight loss gimmicks that are easy to use. They want a magic pill or food that melts away fat. While many of these diet programs can reduce wight, recent evaluations report that they have less than 10% success rate in keeping the weight off. This is because these plans do not use real food and do not advocate sensible exercise. They also result in loss of lean body mass, which means lowering your metabolism rate. When you lose lean body mass, even if you are losing fat, your percentage of body fat may not change or even increase the amount of lean body mass lost is greater than the body fat lost. Avoid weight loss gimmicks and drugs. Use this integrated approach, an approach for life.
Fat Loss Tips:
What About Meal Replacement Shakes?
No. Honestly, simply, shouting from the rooftops- NO! Meal replacements usually result in an initial drop in weight attributed mostly to loss of water weight and gastrointestinal bulk. Additionally, you may find that a meal replacement diet causes diarrhea, which will cause dehydration and adversely affect performance. Many meal replacement shakes will cause you to experience lean weight loss, which comes from the breakdown of muscle tissue. This is a VERY detrimental type of weight loss as it jeopardizes body structure and function.
